Today's Psalms

Welcome

17th April

Opening Prayer

6 1) May the Lord open our minds, hearts and mouths to sing and speak his praise. Amen

Come again, Lord, come to feed your people. Nourish us with the grain of truth, with the water of forgiveness, with the oil which takes away the friction of violence and anger.

Pour your love on your people. Give us the grace to follow and the strength to obey; give us your life

The Psalms

Hope in the Lord. Rest in him. He will bring peace

Lord, my heart is not proud and my eyes do not dream of things that are too great. I do not worry about things which are too profound.

Have I not kept my soul calm and quiet? Like a young child still needs its mother for comfort and stillness, so my soul rests within me.

Hope in the Lord, all you his people, from now on and for ever Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

As it is, always has been and always will be, through the infinite ages. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever.

Amen

Hope in the Lord. Rest in him. He will bring peace

Bible Reading Malachi 3:1-5

Behold, I send my messenger. He will prepare the way before me, and the Lord will suddenly and unexpectedly come to his temple - the Lord who you are searching for, the one who will bring the news of the new promise, the one in whom you delight. Look - he is coming, says the Lord of all. But who will be able to endure that day when he comes? Who will be able to stand when he appears?

He will be like a fire that sterilises, he will be like soap for washing. And he will be like one who purifies silver, and will purify the sons of Levi, and purge them like gold and silver, so that they may present the Lord with an offering of righteousness. And the offering of his people will seem good to the Lord, like the offerings of the old days.

And I will come to you to judge you, and I will be a swift judge against fraudsters and adulterers, against those who exploit the honest, the widows, the orphans; and against those who turn against those who have no home - because they do not fear me, says the Lord of all
