Today's Psalms

Welcome

31st October

Opening sentences

May the Lord open our minds, hearts and mouths to sing and speak his praise. Amen

In the silence of a human night dominated by things that terrify me, show me the song of light which surrounds your throne, O Lord.

May I see the angels as they shout your praise, may I hear those who have gone before me as they ring out your glory.

Lift the darkness, Lord

The Psalms

Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; sing praises to our God with the harp.

He takes no pleasure in a horse's strength, nor any delight in a person's speed.

He has strengthened your fortress, and he has blessed your children.

He gives peace in your lands, and fills you with the finest wheat.

He sends his commands to the earth, and his word spreads at huge speed.

He sends the snow like wool, and scatters the frost like it were ashes.

He throws out hailstones - who can stand the cold he creates?

He sends out his word, and the ice melts; he makes the rivers flow and the winds blow.

He declares his word to his chosen leaders, he gives his commands and judgements to his nation on earth.

He has not done this for any other peoples - those others have not seen his judgments. Alleluia

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

As it is, always has been and always will be, through the infinite ages. Amen.

He gives peace in your lands, and fills you with the finest wheat.

Bible Reading Luke 6:37

If you do not criticise or judge, you will not be judged. If you don't condemn others, you will not be condemned. Forgive, and others will forgive you.

Canticle

In your light, we find light

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

In your light, we find light

Closing Prayers

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever.

Amen

May the Lord keep us day and night in his care, safe in the hope of eternal joy. Amen
