Today's Psalms

Welcome

23rd October

Opening Prayer

14 1) May the Lord open our minds, hearts and mouths to sing and speak his praise. Amen

Lord who made the earth and all that it holds, come to visit us again. In the playgrounds and in the offices; in the streets and in our homes; through the modern media of TV and web; in the interaction of human beings working together - come and be with us. Let us know your love

The Psalms

Look on us Lord. Give us life and we shall be saved

Hear us, O Shepherd of Israel, you who lead the people of Joseph as your flock. Shine brightly, you who dwell among the angels.

Stir up your strength before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh, and come and save us.

O God, restore us; make your face shine on us, and we shall be saved.

Lord God of Hosts, how long will you be angry with the requests of your people?

You have fed them with tears as their bread, and given them tears - plentiful tears - to drink.

You have made us a cause of anger to our neighbours, and our enemies laugh amongst themselves.

Lord God of hosts, restore us; make your face shine on us, and we shall be saved.

You brought a vine out of Egypt; you removed other peoples and planted it.

You prepared a place for it, and allowed it to become deeply rooted; it spread across the land.

Its shadow covered the hills, and the cedars were covered with its offshoots.

She sent her boughs out to the sea; her branches reached The River.

Why have you broken down her foliage, so that all who pass by pluck her fruit?

The boars in the woods uproot her, and the wild beasts feed on her.

O God of Hosts, return, we implore you. Look down from heaven and see. Visit this vine,

And the vine garden which your right hand planted; visit this branch which you strengthened for yourself.

Burned with fire, and cut down at your rebuke of your look, it perishes.

Let your hand be on your right-hand man; let it be on the son of the man you strengthened for yourself,

And we will not turn away from you. Give us life, and we will call on your name.

Lord God of hosts, restore us; make your face shine on us, and we shall be saved. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

As it is, always has been and always will be, through the infinite ages. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever.

Amen

Look on us Lord. Give us life and we shall be saved

Bible Reading Zechariah 12:10-11

And I will pour the spirit of grace and supplication on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and they will look on me - whom they pierced - and yes, they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only son, and grieve for him as one grieves for a firstborn. In that day there will be great mourning in Jerusalem, like the mourning at Hadad Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo.
